| Joker was returned to his breeder, Kim John of Royal K Mastiffs, at 10 months old by his original owners because they were divorcing. I had known Kim for years and was a big fan of her boy, Cole. Kim called me and asked if I wanted to train and show a puppy who knew NOTHING. Well, of course I did! He was Cole's son! :o) | ||

When my mom bred and showed Samoyeds, all of them, starting with Gamblr, were named on a gambling theme. My mom lives next door to me and visits every day, so I suppose it was inevitable that she would fall in love with this pup named "Wild Card" that I had brought home to train. Kim and I talked it over and my mom was presented with a surprise for her 50th birthday on March 11th: Joker's AKC registration papers, with her name and mine on them! |

| Joker's name couldn't be more appropriate... he is a comic and the world is his audience. And the "Wild Card" fits him to a "T" as well. Showing him requires a delicate balance between baiting him to keep him from getting bored and NOT baiting him to keep him from jumping around like a maniac. Joker LOVES to show, and a few judges have commented on his perpetually wagging tail in the show ring. | ||
| Due to my showing dogs for other people, Joker's show career was put on the back burner for a while and he showed in just a handful of shows the first year we had him. We brought him out "for real" the first weekend of January 2008, and he earned 4 majors in 4 weekends of showing. He finished his championship by winning Best of Breed over specials for a 5-point major and then going on to place 4th in Group that afternoon. This was my first AKC group placement, and it was such a thrill to get it with the dog that my mom and I share, with my mom there watching. | ||
